Editors

The Editors are responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the Hungarian Assyriological Review should be published. Their decision whether or not to publish a manuscript is made independently of any external influence and is based exclusively on the intellectual quality and scientific value of the submitted material, without regard to the scientific or academic orientation of the author(s). It is the responsibility of the Editors to handle all submissions fairly and in a timely manner, acknowledging submissions and communicating decisions made after peer-review and ensuring that all submitted manuscripts and the identity of all reviewers are treated confidentially. Editors are also committed to improving the quality of the journal, and to providing authors and reviewers with detailed guidelines which are modified and updated as soon as any new information or change occurs, in order to ensure responsible conduct from all parties.

Authors

Any article submitted to the Hungarian Assyriological Review for publication must be the original work of the author(s) and must not be published in any form or submitted elsewhere at the same time. Authors should ensure that if they have used the work and/or words of others, these have been appropriately cited.

If there are two or more authors, the corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript, having agreed to its submission for publication.

Permissions for using or reproducing any material, data, or content from other sources or under copyright, should be requested and obtained by the Authors before submission; these sources should be precisely cited with quotations and specific bibliographical references (see the Hungarian Assyriological Review’s Author Guidelines).

Authors should declare any potential conflict of interest, e.g., if the author has a competing interest (real or apparent) that could be considered or viewed as exerting an undue influence on his/her duties at any stage during the publication process.

Should any suspicions of scientific or publishing misconduct occur, it is the Editors’ responsibility to treat them properly.

Reviewers

It is the responsibility of all reviewers to examine the submitted manuscript rigorously, fairly, and in a reasonable time, exercising confidentiality at every stage in a double-blind reviewing process, and report whether they accept (with or without minor / major corrections) or reject the paper. The reviewers are expected to provide clear and well-supported argumentation for their judgement as well as constructive explanations and valuable suggestions for the authors.
